Some say that Spider is the Architect that this world which we live in today. Some consider her an esoteric healer, some say she connects each human soul together through the Web of Life. She is the reason for our hearts to reach out to one another although we may be far apart. She is the reason you think of a friend you haven’t spoken to in a while and now they’re calling you on the phone. She’s the reason our hearts link up– indescribably– and beat as one.
As a dear relative shared with me once– every now and then we feel a vibration sent down the part of the web we are standing on, sent down to us by another plucking it some many eons away from us, far far away– but still, the vibration reaches us, and we end up “picking up the phone” by receiving the message, understanding the actions necessary to take, or reconnecting our communications with one another. It’s funny how “coincidental” Architect can seem to make things. Almost like it was divinely orchestrated or something, hmmm!
To me, Spider represents compassion. She is self sacrificing. She weaves her web not only to catch prey to nourish herself but for all the people, all beings on this great web. She wove it for herself out of deep self-love, and because she represents the innocence of the world’s children, she wove it for each of us, too.
Even when her lessons are challenging, and we’ve tripped over her web, we can remember that she still spun that web for us, and we destroyed a valuable part of her world to gain a lesson, or even a teaching if we are prone to listening attentively. It’s a gift and it’s a curse. It can be made into something wonderful if you so choose.
She is quiet, I have never ever heard her make a sound, yet when she comes around she leaves me with an incredibly deep sense of what I can only describe as my entire being turning into an exclamation mark. Her unspoken messages send a thrill through me & inexplicably, I surrender to tumbling endlessly down the rabbit hole, to the next chapter of awe-inspiring unspoken truths of our world.
But, as you can guess– some of them I’ll never put into words. They have to be experienced & felt to be real. So, perhaps the Architect is carefully playing her way down the web to you, and gathering you in for a whole universe’s worth of teachings. Oh, and I’ve heard she really likes to play games. Maybe that is something to think about. Hmmm.
Artist’s interpretation: Now when I first sketched this painting out I only knew that it felt like coming home to someone I hadn’t seen in a long time. As I look at the finished piece I recognize many elements to it: at the bottom we have Architect’s 8 fluffy legs (I think of her like a fluffy jumping spider, a fishing spider, or a wolf spider, maybe even a tarantula– she has plush fur I'd want to sink my hand into) planted flat on the ground. Moving up there are soft pedipalp-like silver structures which hold a green speckled ball, representing Earth. On the sides of them are 8 little yellow structures hanging– those are her 8 eyes.
Upwards from there she has her abdomen raised high in the air on display– she’s doing a handstand– and the light catches on the holographic display as rainbow lights dance across her being. Those feather-like structures reaching out to the sides are all soft sensory organs, kind of like whiskers.
But the thing about her is that the other side of her body looks exactly the same. The same way Spider medicine is treated by caution with some, the idea of her influence being "two-faced" is very real-- for she sees both sides of the story at the same time, and can move in either direction without even turning around. However, it's not a sneaky or negative connotation. In fact, it's an expression I believe people who feel frequently misunderstood can connect to. Sometimes you see so much more of the full picture that people think you see less than them, and that's where the joke is!
Overall I see her as a magnificent being made of metallic silver, gold, brass, and bone-colored elements, with a rainbow sheen that ripples across her entire surface when she moves. Truly, she is cosmic.
Please enjoy my rendering of Spider, the Architect. Angel, cosmic weaver, storyteller, and so much more.
I'll let this print come home to you and speak for itself.
