When it comes to people that connect with Hawk, there is something about them that makes you feel as though you are being X-rayed. 
 
You see, it's hard to hide Truth from Hawk people. 
 
They have a natural curiosity about them that makes them want to understand the inner workings of everything around them. 
 
They're the type of people to grow up dismantling toys, tools, and machinery, to learn them inside and out, and then figure out how to put them back together again. 
 
They are the same way with people-- they ask questions which will reveal a person's inner nature, and they will study them until they completely understand how that person functions and how they may fit into their life (or not). 
 
One thing about Hawk and what they share with their people is "Understanding".
 
Hawk people are observers, and they are watchful for some time before making any moves towards something. 
 
However, despite how much time it can take for a Hawk person to speak up or show up, once they are committed to something, they see it through until the end. 
 
You see, it may be hard to convince a Hawk person into believing in something or changing once their mind is set. 
 
They can be called stubborn, but the reality is that Hawk blesses them with a sense of discipline. 
 
In order words: Don't expend any energy until it's completely safe to do so. 
 
That being said, when Hawk people move, they do so swiftly. 
 
They can be unreadable on the outside until suddenly-- poof-- they're gone. 
 
You might be scratching your head wondering why this is that way, however the lesson here is that Hawk people can see trouble from miles away, and they have a sort of prophetic ability to move to or away from things that may be beneficial or harmful. 
 
When it comes to the Hawk person's power, they move best in silence until they are absolutely certain they want to make an announcement. 
 
Their job is to speak carefully, and never give away too much, and they should also be mindful that when the Spirit reveals a deep truth to them, it may be something they must keep to themselves-- after all, many teachings are for them to understand how to navigate the world better, and they aren't necessarily given so that they could try to change others' minds, or call people out on their behavior. 
 
Hawk simply states: See with clear vision. Then, knowing what you have seen, decide how to move forward. Walk around things you have decided are unsafe. Be patient and allow things to unfold as they are unless somebody asks you for help. There's no need to waste energy if you're not actively hunting or searching for something. 
 
I painted this Hawk medicine portrait in honor of all the Hawk people I have known-- my Uncle, a licensed falconer, and some of my ancestors, as we share a family name with the root word Hawk that references lands where falconry was prevalent. I like to imagine that whichever ancestor first took on the surname Hawk had a deep understanding of these agile birds of prey.
