A cat so shy & gorgeous, she just can't help keeping it all to herself, until your nervous system is calm enough to perceive her presence.
Bobcat medicine teaches us about the nervous system & inner wellness. Bobcat is a safe haven to the person who is chronically overwhelmed and finds it hard to bring their nervous system down after intense emotional experiences. Does this sound like you?
You know the feeling--
Ba-boom-ba-boom-ba-boom-ba-boom as your heart beats seemingly harder and the more you take your deep breaths, the more this feeling seems to crash through the surface, unleashing inner chaos. You might wonder if you'll ever be able to feel truly calm or if life will always push you into spirals of panic.
Bobcat will visit people with nervous system struggles, although they may not notice this medicine initially due to internal turmoil carrying their attention to internal distraction.
It's a trademark of Bobcat's energy that they will walk alongside you in silence, sometimes for months or years, and you will have their guidance with you, but you won't see it until you've given something to yourself: trust.
It's kind of like a paradox-- in order to trust your nervous system must feel safe. In order to feel safe in your body you must feel trust. Where does one begin or the other one end?
Well, it begins with a decision: one simply determines to trust themselves.
And a Bobcat materializes.
It comes with lessons, with steady teachings trickling in.
You might not be receiving big sparkly teachings either. They often look quite ordinary, and perhaps even boring to some.
Because Bobcat's teachings are simple.
So simple they are easy to overlook and even walk right past them-- so ordinary that you wouldn't perhaps call it "spiritual"
But this is where Bobcat calls us deeper-- acknowledging that to be human IS the spiritual experience, and there isn't any separation between the two.
Bobcat teaches us to be better humans.
Bobcat teaches us to begin by treating ourselves better.
Usually you are the last person you look to help out if Bobcat calls to you. You might forget about yourself often, or wonder why you're feeling so depleted always. Putting yourself last again and again, your help to others is wonderful, but how could it be sustainable?
So, Bobcat shows up to gently turn your world upside down, in the most subtly astonishing way.
Bobcat asks one simple question in a particular way that changes the way you see things.
They'll show you things like regulation, and how to create a frame for a healthy nervous system, and how to stay within the lines to teach your body how to respond to its environment.
Except you'll teach yourself all of that-- they'll just provide the subtle nudge that will get you to remember the direction you've been meaning to move in. It might feel like something materializes inside your being, and suddenly you just know where to go or what to do. Bobcat remains self-possessed, and remembers us the same.
To be self-possessed, Bobcat says, is to know who you are first and foremost. You've made the choice to understand & forgive yourself because you know each of your intentions & who you are in character.
To remain self-possessed, is to allow your relationship with the universe to continue informing you of who you are becoming, or who you're choosing to be right now, and you do not place the opinions of other humans above your feelings about these things. It means you don't let your environment push you around. You decide what to let in, when, and how. And you listen to the heartbeat of what is said-- the words won't necessarily matter as much as what you feel from what is exchanged to you. So, Bobcat is a subtle medicine. It runs through the undercurrent of what you see on the surface. You can't perceive it with your eyes. But you can feel it with your heart.
You'll know that Bobcat visits you if you're interested in nervous system healing techniques. Or if your nervous system feels like it's been burning to the ground for 20 years. Or perhaps you are healing from some trauma that keeps you in a loop of struggle. Maybe you're wondering why it's so difficult to be present or enjoy the moment. You could be struggling to form a consistent identity, or feel you need to change something about yourself every time you pick up on a little bit of criticism. Most possibly, you've whittled away at yourself to fit into the world. Instead of becoming fully you, and allowing the world to accept who you are. Sound familiar?
Things of that nature will have Bobcat hanging around, waiting patiently as you pick up the clues.
So, when you notice Bobcat in your life, it's too late-- you've already been on the Bobcat trail for quite some time, perhaps without even realizing it. Because that spirit cat will appear when you've found the groove of your being and accepted yourself for who you are. They can be a bit backwards in that way-- you never knew their teachings came from where they did until you've understood your lesson. Then, you will see something. Then, Bobcat will be alive in your being.
So, enjoy the love & beauty this great cat brings to us. After all, nervous system safety, and knowing who we are, allows us to better choose experiences that really suit our job on this planet. You'll be surrounded by people who truly love and appreciate you, and support you unconditionally. You'll notice a positive voice growing in your heart, as that heartbeat now beats in rhythm with you, and your self-talk will become gentle, forgiving, and easeful.
Sounds pretty good, huh?
If you're looking to invoke Bobcat in yourself, I recommend making a prayer to ask the question-- Bobcat, how are you already present in my life? Reveal to me the ways you've been talking with me that I hadn't noticed yet. I want to see you, I want to hear from you, I wish for you to guide me. Thank you.
With love,
Lak'weh of Light
